Why This Site Exists
There is no single Ohio County screen that answers every ownership, tax, and mapping question. The County Clerk’s Document Inquiry and Vault cover recorded land documents; the Assessor’s search card contains parcel and assessment details; the Sheriff’s Tax Office shows tax ticket status; and the state parcel viewer supplies mapped context. We explain how those sources fit together, what years they cover, and when an in-person or written request may be needed.
What You Will Find Here
- Pages by record type: property search, deed records, property tax records, and parcel maps
- Custodian routes: the County Clerk for recorded instruments, the Assessor for parcel cards and values, the Sheriff’s Tax Office for tax bills, and the West Virginia Property Viewer for mapped parcels
- Search walkthroughs: ways to move from a street address to a parcel, follow deed references, inspect a tax ticket, and compare a parcel map with a recorded description
- Access details: known online coverage periods, available copy fees, and practical next steps when a record is not in a public search portal
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to any Ohio County office, Ohio County department, West Virginia agency, court, recorder, or assessor. Some hard limits:
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot perform a title search or guarantee clear ownership
- We cannot appraise a property or set its assessed value
- We cannot give legal advice about a deed, a boundary, or a tax dispute
- We cannot guarantee that each portal, fee, coverage period, or office procedure remains current
The agency holding a record is the source for its current status, certified copies, and corrections. A title company or licensed surveyor can perform work this guide cannot. Do not use information reached through this site for credit, employment, tenant-screening, or insurance decisions.
